Researchers studying cancer, maternal health among those fired

studying cancer and infectious diseases were among those cut by the Trump Administration, leading to concerns about scientists leaving government work. The American Cancer Society said the cuts could 鈥渄ismantle the critical government infrastructure that has played a pivotal role in cancer survivorship for 18 million individuals who are alive today in the U.S., resulting in more suffering from cancer nationwide.鈥 The workforce cuts could cause active clinical trials to stop, drug shortages to worsen, longer timeframes to review new cancer treatments and decreased access to cancer screenings. The Administration also  specialists at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services working to improve maternal health and  for beneficiaries. (The Hill , 2/23/25)
