Nurse leadership important to foster psychological safety
Nursing leadership is in establishing a culture of safety, according to a cross-sectional highlighted in the Agency for Healthcare Quality’s Journal of Patient Safety. The 255 nurse leaders surveyed emphasized the crucial role of authentic leadership in instilling psychological safety and supporting nurses following serious medical errors. Survey respondents also backed formal support programs, including peer support, education, error analysis and just culture. Other helpful interventions included time off the unit, identifying system failures and nurse involvement in disclosures. (AHRQ Journal of Patient Safety , 3/12/25)
