The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology  for an end to the Trump Administration’s pause of communications restricting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from sharing information to the public and media. These restrictions “endanger public health” and limit “access to timely and transparent infection prevention and control information.” The statement says infection preventionists and others rely on the CDC’s alerts for timely updates during infectious disease outbreaks. APIC lists a tuberculosis outbreak in Kansas, growing Avian flu concerns, potential Ebola and Marburg outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania, respectively, and rising measles cases in Texas, Georgia and Washington as infectious disease concerns.
