The American Hospital Association (AHA) is spotlighting Black maternal health resources this month. They include a on March of Dimes implicit bias training, a on communities designing better maternal care, a  on identifying racism in obstetric care, and an from the Commonwealth Fund comparing the health of U.S. women of reproductive age with their counterparts in other high-income countries. In related news, this week the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) $4.5 million in funding for hiring, training, certifying and compensating community-based doulas in areas with high rates of adverse maternal and infant health outcomes. Doulas provide social and physical support to mothers before, during and after pregnancy. The funding will increase the total number of HRSA Healthy Start doula programs from 25 to approximately 50 nationwide.
