Workshop increases nurse publication rates

A third of nurses who took part in a 12-week, evidence-based writing-for-publication program manuscripts and submitted them to peer-reviewed journals. Of those manuscripts, three-quarters were accepted, 10% were recommended for submission to a different journal and 15% were still under review. The nurses were employed at an academic health center (AHC). 鈥淲ithout more nurses acquiring the skills to engage in writing for publication, the body of advancing knowledge that drives clinical decision-making may wane as aging, experienced nurse authors leave the profession,鈥 the article concluded.
