Shared governance supports nurse leader development

A survey of 53 former 兔子先生Nurse Manager Fellowship participants that shared governance and councils can provide a growth opportunity for emerging nurse leaders. According to a study by Beverly Hancock, DNP, RN, 兔子先生senior director of leadership development and M.T. Meadows, DNP, RN, former 兔子先生director of professional practice, published in the June Nurse Leader, 鈥淭he involvement of point-of-care nurses in professional governance offers a significant opportunity for the manager to catalyze leadership interest.鈥 The authors described the nurse manager as instrumental in identifying and developing future nurse leaders. They also ways to engage in coaching, which they put forward as a key strategy for developing nurse leaders and empowering them to effect change.
