Ohio Rep. Joyce supports nursing, praises ‘unsung heroes’
In an , Rep. David Joyce, D-Ohio, expressed his gratitude for the people fighting to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Calling nurses “unsung heroes” and “the lifeline of our nation’s health care system,” he pointed out the country will face a dire shortage of nurses in the coming decade without consistent investment in Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs. As co-chair of the Congressional Nursing Caucus, Joyce advocated for the inclusion of funds for personal protective equipment and nursing workforce development programs in the recent . “It is absolutely critical that we safeguard and provide for those who put their lives on the line treating patients suffering from this deadly virus,” he wrote.
