Joint Commission offers resources to fight nurse burnout
The Joint Commission is taking steps to help hospitals the problems of nurse stress and burnout. Last year, the accrediting agency conducted a national survey of nurse engagement. Fifteen percent of nurses reported feelings of burnout, which the commission considers to be a leading patient safety concern. In July, the Joint Commission issued a Quick Safety detailing ways employers can develop a more resilient nursing workforce. Education, opportunities for reflection, and customizing EHRs to better support nursing workflow are among the solutions the brief puts forth. (HealthLeaders Media , 1/17/20)
