FDA grants emergency use of masks, ventilators
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) an umbrella emergency use authorization (EUA) for surgical masks meeting certain performance requirements in response to concerns about inadequate supply. The agency also an appendix listing authorized surgical masks. In a series of separate EUAs, the FDA emergency use of several devices for patient ventilation and guidance for extending the 鈥渋n-use time鈥 of certain medications when necessity dictates their use beyond the timeframe indicated on their labels.
