Participants in the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúNurse Manager Fellowship program must complete capstone projects to benefit their sponsoring organizations. Two such projects are detailed in the April issue of Nurse Leader. One 2019 project aimed to resolve the challenge of bringing everyone together for given complex workflows. The solution, put in place by fellow Keara Wright, BSN, RN, and her colleagues at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., used a speed-dating approach to consolidate consultations across disciplines during a daily, one-hour session. Another fellow, Cheryl McBeth, MS, RN, took on central line–associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She with others to substitute chlorhexidine/alcohol swabs for alcohol-impregnated caps and to develop a disinfecting protocol, significantly reducing the incidence of CLABSI.
