NCI thermometers produce high number of false readings
A by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) demonstrated non-contact infrared thermometers (NCITs) to meet their advertised accuracy specifications or reliably detect fevers 48% to 88% of the time, depending on the model. The researchers studied six commercially available NCITs. Thermometers of this type have become the primary tool used in public temperature screenings. (Healthcare Purchasing News , 2/16/22)
