Most health care workers who instances of verbal and physical workplace violence incidents neglected to do so because they felt it was “part of the job,” according to a study published in the November issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. The authors analyzed regional community assessment survey data specific to health care workers’ attitudes and actions related to workplace violence from one participating urban tertiary hospital; 361 people participated, and over half were nurses. The authors compared findings with current evidence to determine evidence-based interventions to establish a program to promote a safer workplace.
