Congress seeks to overturn Biden鈥檚 staff ratio rule

A bipartisan trio of senators  their House Republican colleagues in introducing a Congressional Review Act  to overturn the Biden Administration鈥檚 staff ratio rule for nursing homes. Sens. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., Jon Tester, D-Mont., and James Lankford, R-Okla., earlier this month  the measure, which has a 鈥渟ignificant chance of passing the Democratically-controlled Senate鈥 since a CRA resolution needs only a simple majority of votes. President Biden likely would veto the measure, however. The rule also faces a challenge in the courts. The American Hospital Association  the rule, saying it 鈥渃ould jeopardize access to all types of care across the continuum, especially in rural and underserved communities that may not have the workforce levels to support these requirements.鈥 (The Hill , 6/11/24)
