The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently began its birthing friendly hospital designation on Medicare’s Care Compare and through a new . The designation, adopted last year in updates to the CMS Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, identifies hospitals and health systems participating in a statewide or national perinatal quality improvement collaborative program and implementing evidence-based care to improve maternal health.
