ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúinvites nurse managers to a 15-minute survey to test a tool that could be used to redesign nurse manager roles and improve the work environment. Developed by The Health Management Academy, the nurse manager span-of-control tool helps nurse executives assess the total scope of responsibility for leaders overseeing inpatient areas of service. It was adapted from The Ottawa Hospital’s 2005 validated tool, measuring the relative impact of 20 variables that affect manager workload and evaluating whether manager span-of-control is appropriate. The survey will be available through Dec. 1. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúwill share the blinded and aggregated data with health system leaders to identify opportunities to make front-line leader roles more sustainable.
