Congress should support and expand targeted programs to workforce shortages in rural communities to ensure a robust and qualified staff to handle emergency medical care, according to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. The association also urged Congress to support workplace policies and programs encouraging nurses and other professionals to practice at the top of their license. These policies were among a slew of proposals the AHA suggested in a submitted this week to the House Ways and Means Committee during a field in Denton, Texas, on strengthening access to timely emergency medical care in rural and underserved areas. The AHA’s policies promote flexible payment options, ensure fair and adequate reimbursement, and bolster the workforce. (AHA News , 3/18/24)
