In response to national blood supply shortages, this week ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú (AHA) members with tools and resources to help them conserve blood and encourage donations throughout the summer. Resources available through an AHA  include guidelines and a toolkit for patient blood management and tips from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) on extending the blood supply. The initiative is being undertaken in conjunction with the AABB, the American Red Cross and other organizations reporting early signs of a severe shortage, which could extend for months.
