Nursing groups urge creating workplace civility policies
Workplace civility was the subject of a position statement this week by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The calls on facilities to develop collaborative, comprehensive policies to address the 鈥渋dentification, mitigation, evaluation, and reporting of uncivil behavior as well as intervention and accountability鈥 to eliminate such behavior. 鈥淭he operating room can be particularly prone to workplace incivility, due to its high-stress, complex nature,鈥 AORN鈥檚 president said in a statement.
