CDC reports diabetes down 35 percent since 2009
Since peaking in 2009, the number of newly diagnosed cases of diabetes in the United States has dropped by 35 percent according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). 鈥淭he findings suggest that our work to stem the tide of type 2 diabetes may be working鈥攂ut we still have a very long way to go. We must continue proven interventions and deploy innovative strategies if we鈥檙e going to see a continued decline in type 2 diabetes among Americans,鈥 said Ann Albright, PhD, director of the CDC鈥檚 Division of Diabetes Translation.
