Abstract | Developing Hospital-at-Home Patient Care: Q & A with McArdle
Adventist Health, an integrated health care system serving patients in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington, started its hospital-at-home program in 2020. This innovative care model leverages a medical command center staffed with physicians and nurses who provide on-demand acute medical care management with patients in the home setting. Technology is leveraged to deploy a network of clinicians, support staff, equipment, medication and supplies to support and treat each patient in their home setting. To learn more about this model and how it operates, Marie Prothero posed questions to Lesa McArdle, DNP, RN, Adventist Health hospital-at-home director of operations. McArdle, who works in the Sacramento area, leads and supports the hospital-at-home clinical team to ensure safe and high-quality care. McArdle contributed to the program鈥檚 design and worked on its implementation.
