/ en Thu, 10 Apr 2025 04:10:33 -0500 Thu, 06 May 21 12:08:35 -0500 /nursing-leadership-podcast/Street-Nurse-Program-Delivering-Care-to-Meet-Patient Thu, 06 May 2021 12:08:35 -0500 Care Delivery /resources/technology-improves-care-delivery Wed, 31 Mar 2021 09:40:42 -0500 Care Delivery /advocacy/key-issues/promote-value-nursing <p> </p> <p>In the redesign of the health care delivery system towards one driven by a team of health care providers in a patient-centered environment, it is important nurse leaders articulate the value of nursing in improved patient outcomes, care coordination, quality, safety and delivery of cost-effective care through data-driven research.</p> <p>Congress recognition of the value of nursing is evident by the inclusion of <a href="http://innovation.cms.gov/initiatives/gne/">advanced practice nurse demonstration programs</a> within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the continued expansion of <a href="/system/files/media/file/2019/07/Nursing_Organizations_Support_%20S_Res_514_0.pdf">nurse-managed clinics</a>.</p> <p>Nurse leaders must continue advocating for funding of these programs as well as provider nondiscrimination provisions with the Medicare and Medicaid programs, ensuring parity for nurses and other classes of health care providers are able to practice to the full scope of their licensure and professional competence.</p> <p>In addition to the development of public policy, nurse leaders advocate for the development of nursing to the executive level using <a href="/resources/nurse-leader-competencies">AONL’s leadership competencies</a> and the promotion of these leadership competencies across health care settings.</p> Tue, 09 Jul 2019 09:48:12 -0500 Care Delivery /workforce-roles-redesigned-primary-care-model <p>In September 2011, The American Hospital Association (AHA) convened a roundtable of clinical and health systems experts to examine the future primary care workforce needs of patients, as well as the role hospitals and healthcare systems can play in effectively delivering primary care.</p> <p>The findings presented in this white paper reflect this group's discussion and recommendations on two fronts: first, how to define workforce roles for a new primary care environment; and second, developing a new, more effective model of primary care delivery that encompasses the birth to end-of-life continuum.</p> <p>These recommendations take into account a variety of facility resources, including those related to finances and staffing, that must be considered if the redesign is to be successful.</p> Tue, 23 Apr 2019 15:44:51 -0500 Care Delivery /role-nurse-leader-care-coordination-and-transition-management-across-health-care-continuum <p>ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúand the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing collaborated to outline how nurse leaders in inpatient and post-acute/outpatient settings should approach their roles to enhance development of care coordination and transition management across the continuum of care.</p> <p>Nurse leaders can activate interprofessional collaboration through adoption and engagement in the following strategies.
